Current Campaign: Engaging our Youth…

At the 2019 Convention of the Ukrainian Self Reliance League of Canada

At the 2019 Convention of the Ukrainian Self Reliance League of Canada

Our current campaign has a financial goal of $150,000. The funds will be used to hire a National Youth Administrator. Engaging youth is critical for the future of retaining and promoting educational and cultural programs in our Canadian Ukrainian community.

In 2016 and 2017, SUS Foundation hired a Youth Administrator in an effort to get more youth interested in participating in Canadian Ukrainian Youth Association/Ukrainian Orthodox Youth (CYMK-UOY) branches and activities across Canada. The program was successful in reviving interest in several CYMK-UOY branches. In 2019 approximately 40 youth delegates attended the Ukrainian Self-Reliance League of Canada (USRL) convention in Mississauga, Ontario. We know that retaining a Youth Administrator is critical to the continued growth of CYMK-UOY and we ask for your financial support in helping to reach this goal.

As an incentive to achieving this goal, SUS Foundation has pledged to match dollar for dollar all donations received for the Youth Administrator program to a maximum o $50,000. Once $50,000 in donations are received, along with the matched donation from SUS Foundation, we will be two-thirds of the way to achieving our goal!

We need your full support to reach this goal and motivate our youth to be active in the community.

If you wish to contribute to this program, please clearly identify that your donation is for the “Youth Administrator program” (If donating through canadahelps.org, type “Youth Administrator program” in the “INCLUDE A MESSAGE FOR THIS CHARITY” text box); otherwise your donation will be applied to the SUS Foundation endowment fund.

We thank you for your support!

To continue the momentum of the youth program, the goals of the program are the following:

  • Engage more youth in CYMK-UOY

  • Grow and strengthen existing CYMK-UOY branches, and develop new branches where there are none

  • Increase youth attendance at the USRL conventions

  • Encourage a strong relationship and involvement of advisors from the component organizations of the Ukrainian Self-Reliance League of Canada

  • Teach leadership skills

  • Encourage recruitment of senior CYMK-UOY members and retain them to see a smooth transition to adult USRL organizations
